Small parrots do not get the advocacy they deserve. Many individuals purchase them from large chain pet stores where they are misinformed into believing they are low-maintenance pets, buying a small cage, a small bird, and a bag of commercial seed mix. These people often get home after purchasing a bird and realize they are in over their head. 

I remember when Pete first came into my life I was trying to figure out how to best take care of her but the majority of information found was regarding larger birds. Trying to implement proper care when the only access I had regarded larger birds caused a lot of trial and error and I won’t lie, I made mistakes with Pete. Living with a small parrot was overwhelming and stressful when I did not have access to proper information on how to care for her. 

I want to share what I know about small parrots with anyone who wants to learn how to do their best so they do not have to struggle the way I had to in the beginning.
