bird kabobs – I have yet to meet a budgie that does not LOVE yucca toys. The bird kabobs from wesco pet seem to be the most popular/readily available yucca toy but for those who want to save some $$ since budgies can destroy those in less than a week, sometimes you can find just pieces of yucca on websites that sell bird toy parts.
crinkle paper – so simple and cheap yet provide budgies with so much enrichments especially if you make a foraging tray!
shinny toys – these can be controversial i tend to avoid them because my budgies are SOOO destructive.
preening toys – these are amazing for alone budgies and even budgies who may have a friend but that friend does not like receiving head scritches.
music – mine love music! one will sing the other one will bob his head to the music
bells – controversial, do your own research personally a high quality bell i will keep but no one that looks dangerous or not super secure
cuttlebone – a great calcium supplement and helps keep their beak trim – Fantastic! most budgies i have had have enjoyed cuttle bones. I often get messages from people who think their budgies are eating too much cuttle bone but that really isn’t possible and you never want your budgie to be without one. Within reason of course in my bird carrier there is not a cuttle bone because its just not necessary, but their cage ALWAYS has one!
training – once you have your parakeet clicker/target trained They tend to really enjoy learning, this may be motivated by food but it keeps them engaged happy and working their brain!
